Trapt: Chris Brown (vocals, guitar); Simon Ormandy (guitar); Peter Charell (bass); Aaron Montgomery (drums).
<p>Recorded at the Warehouse Studios, Vancouver, British Columbia.
<p>This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.
<p>Bridging the gap between nu metal and alternative hard rock, Trapt capitalize on the momentum of said genres early-'00s success with their self-titled major label debut. With roots that reach to early-'90s hard rock (Metallica/Soundgarden) and branch into contemporary music (311, Hoobastank, Korn), TRAPT offers a diverse rock palette. Control room whiz/creative speller GGGarth (Rage Against The Machine, Chevelle) dials in chunky low-register guitar tones and punchy drum sounds that convey Trapt's songs with the perfect balance of polish and grit. Radio-made single "Headstrong," catchy-as-hell "Still Frame," and the metallic Foo Fighters-riffy "Hollowman" are the album's obvious standout tracks.

- One of best CDs of the year.
Since I first heard "Headstrong" on the radio a month or so ago, I've been waiting very impatiently for the album to be realeased. However, once you've heard "Headstrong", you've heard only one side of Trapt. Unlike many bands, they are not one dimensional in their style. While Trapt has some excellent hard rock songs like "Still Frame" on the album, their true strength lies in their melodic sound found in all their songs, but most noticeably in "Echo", "These Walls", "Enigma", and "Made of Glass". Amazingly, they don't allow one style to dominate the album. Personally, I'm sick of bands whose songs all sound alike. This is most certainly not the case with Trapt. Every single song is different from the rest while being equally well done. Normally at the end of review I list my favorite songs, but I just can't pick out songs that I like more than the others. My only complaint about the album is about "When All is Said and Done". I had an earlier release of this song as an MP3 and the song is very different. While the CD version is good, it just doesn't sound as good as the MP3 I had. Apparently they changed the melody or something.

- Trapt made my day!
...i actaully discovered trapt by looking through the "listmania" feature on this site. im sure glad i did.
i saw trapt on someones list and i thought they sounded familar to me.. so i dl'ed what they said was their favorite"Headstrong" ...and loved it.
the next day i discovered that the song "Headstrong" was also featured on the PS2 game NHL 2003. coincidence??. i dont think so. ...and as if that wasnt enough i then found out that the cd came out in 2 days, so i bought it.
i couldnt have been more pleased. its the best cd ive bought in addition to (onesidezero) and (blindside)..
you'll be hearing from them soon on the radio. im sure of it. thanks for listening to what i had to say. if you like them.

- Great Debut, So Where's Your Follow-up, Guys?
Trapt are one of those groups that take criticism just for being themselves. No, they aren't exactly original. No, they aren't heavy (but oddly enough, they thank Slayer in the liner notes). Yes, they use a lot of hooks and riffs that sound recycled at times. But that's who Trapt are, and what they amount to on their self titled debut, is a pretty damn good band. If you hate modern rock in general, face it, this isn't gonna appeal to you. However, if you want some good, non-offensive, well-written music in the vein of Hoobastank or Linkin Park, Trapt are for you.
Frontman Chris Brown broods and vents about failed relationships and generic angst throughout the album's mere eleven tracks, with melody-infested, mature lyrics. While the band themselves aren't doing anything new, they are obviously competent. Like I said before, this is nothing you haven't heard before, but what makes this band truly stand out is Chris Brown's lyrics. If you've ever been through a tough break-up, or fallen out of love, you will find a lot of material on here to relate to, such as "Made Of Glass," "Echo" and "Stories." If you're familiar with the big single, "Headstrong," then likewise, "Still Frame" and "When All Is Said And Done" will appeal to you. One of the biggest, commercial, mistakes Trapt made was not releasing "These Walls" as a single. Not that they needed it, but I truly believe this one track to be the defining moment of the album. As good as some of these songs are, there are a few stumbles. Take "Hollowman" and "New Beginning" for example. Both songs go nowhere, really, and are hindered mainly by being too long for their own good.
Still though, when all is said and done, there is an abundance of strong material here. Trapt aren't breaking the mold, but they do this sound justice and do it just as well, if not better, than most of the groups you hear on the radio. However, this album is three years old now, and the band still haven't finished a second album. We're all waiting. As good as this album is, and even though it hasn't gotten old, I think a lot of us are dying to hear what they can come up with next.

- Not a real original sound but that doesn't make it bad!
I bought this CD because my friend was playing it on his guitar and I asked him who plays that song and he said Trapt. So I decided to buy it. Turns out the song was Headstrong. I wasn't really expecting originality, but it doesn't torture you to the point where you can't stand it and wish you would have bought The All American Rejects instead (that was my other choice but I Wanted this one more). If you like heavy metal like Staind, Cold or Chevelle then you must get this CD. It is really good!

- When all is said and done, this'll still be da best CD ever!
With song's like "Headstrong", "Enigma", and "Made of Glass", who needs any other choices? Trapt is one of the best CD's that I have heard in a while, for nu-metal type music that is. The first time I heard one of Trapt's songs ("Headstrong"), was at a friend of one of my friend's house. Once I heard it, I was hooked, and when I got back home, I borrowed it from one of my friends about a week ago. I've been listening to it every day since. So all I have left to say is, BUY THIS CD, it's awesome!!!
