This album has been in permanent rotation since my ears found it in late March - this is also the first Turin material I had heard. Primarily an acoustic record, the structures and crescendo style ('sea change', 'apocolips', 'radio') has everything music junkies search for...The soul is there in the lyrics but more importantly in the music, whether it be with a single instrument ('outbursts') to an oncoming tidal wave of rhythmic symmetry ('apocolips') This made me dip into their older material and to compare, this is much more polished and the production sounds wonderful - definitely building upon Dark on Fire's style. It's one of those special records in which your favorite song jumps from one to another with each successful listen. Personal favs - Outbursts, Never Stops, Apocolips, Mirrors. Bottom line: It's gorgeous, introspective, groovy, I could go on and on - Give it a try and then pass it on
THIS CD BY TURIN BRAKES HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CD'S I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO. I ALSO HAVE OTHER CD'S BY THESE TWO GUYS AND THEY ARE EQUALLY AS GOOD.
IF YOU LIKE THE ROCK-BALLAD SOUND AND APPRECIATE TIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL HARMONYS THIS IS FOR YOU. I AM A ROCK GUITARIST AND BASSIST AND SINGER FOR FIFTY YEARS AND THESE GUYS ARE SOME OF THE BEST YOU WILL EVER HEAR. BY THE WAY MOST OF THEIR MUSIC IS PRETTY MELLOW WITH THE OCCASIONAL ROCKER. HEY THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE AND WELL WORTH THE LISTEN. PETE
