Twisted Sister

Twisted Sister Album: “Club Daze Vol. 1: The Studio Sessions”

Twisted Sister Album: “Club Daze Vol. 1: The Studio Sessions”
Description :
Twisted Sister: Dee Snider (vocals); Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojeda (guitar, background vocals); Mark Mendoza (bass, background vocals); Kenneth Harrison Neill (bass); Tony Petri (drums).
Producers: Steve Bramberg, Eddie Kramer, Mark Mendoza.
Compilation producers: Jay Jay French & Mark Mendoza.
Recorded at Mediasound and Electric Lady Studios, New York, New York; Bolognese Studios, Merrick, New York between 1978 and 1981. Includes liner notes by Jay Jay French & Martin Popoff.
Twisted Sister was one of the prime movers on the East Coast hard-rock/heavy-metal scene in the '70s, with a sound that was a blueprint for the metal explosion in the '80s. When Twisted Sister was formed in 1972 by lead vocalist and guitarist Jay Jay French, it was a glam band that played covers of Mott the Hoople and David Bowie tunes. All that changed in 1976, when Dee Snider joined and the band took a metallic turn.
The first two songs on this collection "Come Back"(a fast and furious rocker of lost love) and "Pay the Price"(featuring the skin bashing of second drummer Tony Petri), set a blistering tone. "Rock N Roll Saviors" is an anti-disco anthem, with a guitar sound that clearly influenced early Iron Maiden. "High Steppin" is a more traditional rock & roll tune, while "T.V. Wife" and "Can't Stand Still" (the latter written and sung by French), clearly show the earlier glam sound of the group. "Lady's Boy" has an accessible swing feel to it, while "Leader of the Pack" is an early version of the song that appears on COME OUT AND PLAY. It is interesting to note that this earlier version contains handclaps and piano.

- Classic Club Days Twisted

I saw Twisted many times in the clubs of NJ and NY in the early 80's. What a treat for me to hear this disc and capture where they were at during this timeframe. Lady's Boy is just as I remember it and its nice to have it on CD rather than the old 45. Rock N Roll Saviors is great! Now we need the Rock N Roll Saviors to save us from rap instead of disco. Old drummer Tony Petri from Fords on CD is cool too!

- This album rocks

I bought this album some days ago and once I heard it I couldn't believe my ears. It has really awesome songs. T.V wife, Can't stand still and Follow me are tracks that really make me feel like a S.M.F.

The rest of the album is very cool too. I surely recommend it

The 1980's was perhaps not the greatest decade for rock music, with the use of computers, to create digital recordings of the music, although making the sound perfect, it seemed to take the heart & soul out them (rock music always sounds better when it has a live in the studio feel to it).

The same can be said for TS, who albums "Stay Hungry" & "Come out & Play", are great records, but could have done with a much more rough n' ready sound to them.

Which is why the music on this CD is so strong, with no Bells & Whistles, just simple, fist pumping rock songs, as it should be.

You even get great liner notes, with Dee explaining every track on the album.

So if you are a Sister Fan, this album is absolutely essential to complete your collection.

SFM forever!

- No Good

Incredibly disappointing. Not at all like good TS. I guess if you liked Under The Blade you might like this a little, but it's really not very good for any genre of music you put it in. I highly recommend passing on this one and waiting to see if Dee gets a new CD out soon.
