- Nothing too special here
This is an ok CD. The only song of interest here is North and South of the River, which has since been rereleased on The Best of 1990-2000/B-sides. It is a pretty song with lyrics written by Christy Moore, Bono and The Edge. My one complaint is that it fades out. I don't generally like fadeouts anyway. There is another version out there with very different instrumentation and a lead vocal by Christy Moore, with a special guest appearance by Bono and The Edge. I can't remember the name of the CD it's on, but I don't think Amazon has it in its archives. The last track, Your Blue Room, was originally released on Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1 and has since been rereleased on The Best of 1990-2000/B-sides. I really like this one, Bono's low vocal is perfectly in my range, plus hearing Adam's voice at the end is a bonus. In my opinion, the Staring at the Sun [#1] CD is better. It's backed with three remixes of Staring at the Sun plus North and South or the River. But that one instead.
- A brilliant track buried in a popular CD single . . .
Staring at the Sun is the best song off of U2's Pop album. But this CD also includes a track entitled, "North and South of the River." This is a fabulous song! If I had to offer a sample track to illustrate Bobo's captivating voice, I would choose this song. His voice has a terrifying sweetness to it--a romantic coldness that messes with your senses . . . buy this cd for this song. trust me, you won't stop listening to it. i wish this was on the Pop album!
