- Excellent Compilation Album

The booklet doesn't give you much information but from the pictures it seems like this cd was recorded by the line up in 2001, Bernie Shaw, Mick Box, Trevor Bolder, Phil Lanzon and Lee Kerslake, it sounds like they recorded the 27 tracks live in the studio, CD 1 covers the years 1970 to 1973 and CD 2 covers the years 1974 to 2001, I happen to like this line up and I think they did a good job re-recording there classic tracks, buy it, I think you'll like it, you could pick this up at a great price on Amazon Marketplace.

- Fool's 'Gold'

Since there is very little description of this collection on Amazon, I thought I was purchasing a comprehensive 'anthology' of the band. I've always loved the early stuff (which is fairly represented here) and at a good price, I thought I was getting a deal. Wrong!!

This collection is recorded by whatever remains of the band. There are no personnel listings in the booklet. It only says that this 'retrospective' was 'especially recorded by the longest line-up of the band...'. Whatever that means. I think I recognize Mick Box in the pictures included in the booklet, but I could be wrong. For all I know, it was recorded by the longest line-up of the touring roadies.

Please people, beware, this is not the Uriah Heep of yore. This is but a chintzy facsimile. The song recreations are listless, the production is limp. I swear, it is as if whatever remains of this band got together in someone's basement and did a really fast run through of the band's classic songs in hopes of cashing in. Hopefully, I was the only dupe.

Save your money!!
