While the latter proved to be a poppy affair, Veruca Salt, fronted by Louise Post, opted for a much edgier, guitar-heavy approach (see the aggressive, angsty "So Weird") that fit hand-in-glove with the act's new relationship with the indie label, Sympathy for the Record Industry.
