For the uninitiated, the Weezer Cruise was a five-day, four-night floating music festival hosted by -- you guessed it -- Weezer, and featuring Wavves, Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and more. One big =W= fan takes us through the cruise.

“Popular” has been called an accidental alt-rock radio hit by almost every music writer who has tackled the subject of Nada Surf. It was on the radio for what seemed an eternity in 1996, and for the longest time I thought “Popular” was a song by Weezer. But Weez factor or not, that song killed it.

Nada Surf is probably best known for its 1996 hit, "Popular" — a nice ode to a high schooler's dating angst. It had the spirit of Weezer's "Sweater Song," yet less refined. Nonetheless, it's a fun song, even if it is eye-cringing.
