Disco de White Zombie: “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie [Box] [PA]”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Though they eventually became a highly successful heavy metal act, few of White Zombie's fans have any inkling of their beginnings in New York City's late-'80s "pigf**k" scene. Alongside grimy kindred spirits like Pussy Galore, White Zombie played an intense style of noise rock heavily indebted to both No Wave and hardcore, coated in distortion and feedback. Their first two albums, SOUL-CRUSHER and MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY, employed the style, but have been in the shadows for almost two decades. LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE finally collects those albums, along with early EPs and the hugely successful platinum albums LA SEXORCISTO and ASTRO CREEP: 2000. Despite their eventual embrace of cleaner, high-tech production and more conventional metal guitars, White Zombie has been consistently grindhouse-movie fixated throughout. Raw punk like "Shack of Hate" is thematically consistent with later, more polished monster rock like "Soul-Crusher" and the colossal radio hit "More Human Than Human."

- Great compilation!

This is a great box set that has been a long time in the making. It covers all of White Zombies from their early days all the way up to the end and also includes alot of the B-Sides and songs from soundtracks that they did.

The early stuff might take a little getting used to, but overall I really like this set and would recommend it to any White Zombie fan.

- Look i know the Supernatural is something that isn't supposed to happen, but it does happen!!!.

You're probably thinking whether the White Zombie boxset is really worth getting or not. Well I'll tell you right now that it's definitely worth it, you get 4 discs of music including a couple of rare songs like the Sabbath cover Children of the Grave and Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks & Cannibal Girls which are both sound fantastic. And you also get a completely awesome DVD containing all their music videos (the one on the past, present and future CD had a few missing videos for some reason) and some great live footage which includes the show at Donnington 95. For many fans this box-set was long overdue. White Zombie were for me one of the greatest bands the early 90's metal scene and their break up shortly after releasing Astro-Creep 2000 and the remix CD made me wonder if anyone could fill that void. It was a real shame when that happened cause I really wanted to see where they were going to head off to next but unfortunately it didn't happen. There is no doubt that Astro-Creep 2000 was an undisputed classic 90's industrial metal album with songs like Electric Head pt.1, More Human Than Human, Supercharger Heaven and Phantasmo and the Chicken-Run Blast-O-Rama.

This set comprises all Studio recordings, including the Soul Crusher & Make Them All Die Slowly albums that have been very difficult to track down for those of us without unlimited funds, so its great to have them all complied here together. I'll be honest some of the earlier stuff before they became a mainstream industrial metal group was kind of bad and slightly dodgy, Make Them Die was pretty good though despite the low production (Disaster Blaster being the highlight). I usually like to read about the band and most other box sets I own all have a biography or the bands history, some of these are fantastic and talk about studio sessions for each album, such as the Sabbath Black Box and you get a real insight into what made the band tick and learn more about these talented and amazing bands. Although Let Sleeping Corpses Lie does have a booklet, its just full of sepia tone photos and little else other than a track listing, which I was a little disappointed with. Still all things considered though, this is still a fantastic set and well worth the money, check it out if you're a die hard White/Rob Zombie fan.

- The project that would not go away

I think this has to be taken into context in that Rob has been avoiding this project for a long time. The reason you didn't get a major booklet or liner notes is because it seems like he just needed to get this thing done so it wasn't constantly hanging out there. That's obvious from some of his latest interviews. Re-recording and getting all the tracks transferred must have been pure hell given how many other projects he had lined up and its sort of like asking the yearbook editor of your high school yearbook to go back and redo your Senior year fifteen years after the fact. It was great, it deserves to be remembered but spending a year on it especially after all the hard feelings when the band ended, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'd just enjoy the DVD and chill out.

- Great boxset

First of all: at the price of two albums (I paid it 37 euros, new)you get all White Zombie discography (minus the remixes, not done by them, and two forgettable cassette-only tracks), all their videos, even an alternative version of Thunderkiss '65 as an easter egg, and a full movie, "White Zombie" with Bela lugosi, as an Easter egg it too.

Yeah, you don't have all the lyrics and all the artworks (I think it would have been virtually impossible for Rob to this all on his own), but you can easily find them on internet; instead you have a booklet full of photos of the band and some art by Rob Zombie, and all the track lists and the sources of the tracks. I quite like the minimal colour of the boxset, like something old, and I can live without every colour of every WZ's artwork, what really matters to me is the music.

Here for the first time you have on CD all the pre-Geffen material, even the first Acid-Noise-Metal tracks: I quite dig that sound, very different from what they would have become later, and very 70's inspired, it shows how they changed with every work.

Many times White Zombie are remembered as a Industrial Metal band, but it's far from the truth: only the last album "Atrocreep:2000" as some real electro-rock elements (but even there it's more an alternative metal thing, than a "Ministry-like" situation). What White Zombie has always been is a Horror themed hard rock band that used many different styles and influences, but always with this mindset and a z-horror movie feeling, the real core elements are Rob lyrics and themes, the change in sound was due to the changes that every time occurred to the line-up (only R. Zombie and Sean Yseult have always been in the band).

I can understand that if you already own the two Geffen albums, you could have your doubts: personally I hadn't them so it was a great affair, because I liked every tracks, maybe if you already own them it's better to listen on the net to samples of their early old material and decide by yourself if you like it and it's worth your money, just don't overpay it anyway.

- zombie box

4 disc, 1 dvd. Not bad, if your a zombie fan you have seen all these videos. I was kinda of let down by that. The four cds are just old school white zombie (very cool). If your a collector of WZ its a must. Just don't get your hopes to high, the videos and packaging could have been better. Overall I'm happy with it.
