<p>EVOLUTION proves to be a rather prophetic title for this release from the famed R&B quartet. The album finds Boyz II Men growing musically and emotionally, and all the songs here demonstrate the added depth that is the result of the group's artistic maturation. One thing that hasn't changed is the silky-smooth harmonies that are the band's trademark. Their elegantly intertwining voices lead you gently through ballads about both good times and bad. The production is state-of-the-art as usual, underlining the strength of the material. EVOLUTION finds the boys strutting their stuff as full-grown men.

- Their best album
I loved this cd of theirs. This has some damn beautiful songs on it. Their first cd was great but they got so much better with this. Four Seasons of Lonliness and Doin Just Fine are such amazing songs. One song that always makes me cry and I can only guess it's because it's so good, is A Song For Mama. I keep going back to this cd often. It is a favourite of mine in general. The guys harmonies are terrific and the soul here is superb. - Checkin out daddy's cds pays off well!
Boyz II Men have really done a good job on this album. i found evolution when i was going through my dad's cd collection so i took it and put it in my discman. since i put it in i cant take it out. i love this album from begining to end. Boyz II Men have very meaningful and sincere lyrics unlike so many groups out there today. My favourite songs on here are "4seasons", "Never", "Doin just fine", "Mama" and "To the limit". everyone should have this cd. PEACE 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:
- Best Album Ever
Evolution is an album that soars way above any other Boys II Men album. Their album II has more commercial value, but Evolution is pure genius. The writing and the producing of the album is what really stands out. It is a new take on an old and perfected sound. Plus the vocals are better than perfect (yes, better than perfect). - Boyz II Men's most underrated, but best, album
Many might dissagree when I claim that "Evloution", and not "II" and certainly not "Coolyhighharmony", is Boyz II Men's best realise to date, but that is still my opinion. With the album "Evolution" Boyz II Men has taken a small, but noticeable, step away from their early ninetees attempts of upbeat r&b that works. Their debut album and sophmore realise was riddled with "funky" rythms and beats that never really took Boyz II Men anywhere. I am talking about song such as "Thank you", "Vibin'", "All around the world" and "Motownphilly".
"Evolution"'s very first sound is the sweet melody of "Doin' just fine". It continues with "Never", the albums best song after "Four seasons of loneliness". After the perhaps too sweet, but alright "Song for mama" Boyz II Men get started with their groovy thang, unfortunatley. "Baby C'mon" and "To the limit"...yukk. Cut it out guys, they should stick to what they know: singing ballads and powerballads like none others are able to do. At the very end of the album the Boyz get all God-I-love-you, like Brian McKnight also has a tendancy to do. Personally I think it ruins perfectly nice songs with all the religious stuff. However, Boyz II Men make it work with "Dear God". Although not a big fan of the message in the song, the song itself is divine, wow!
Sadly, this five star album get deducted one star for their upbeat [stuff]. Hey guys, some know how to do that stuff, you don't, so just face it and quit it.

- The Best. Period.
Boyz II Men came with one of the best R&B albums of all-time, with "Evolution." This album displays their incredible vocal talent, Babyface's phenomenal production/writing/direction, and a good mix of commercial and non-commercial greats. There's no beating Boyz II Men, considering they take their time on each and every album, unlike many R&B groups of today. Shawn Stockman is developing into a great song-writer, along with Nathan Morris.
These guys have taken over...
