Disco de Dashboard Confessional: “Dusk and Summer”

This album is probably the most marketable and radio friendly of all of dashboard's albums. For the peripheral listener it may be the right one to get to introduce you to this band. But as a Dashboard fan of 5 or so years I truly hope they return to their original sound for their next work. Not for the listen-ability but for the show. To this day the fans react best to the songs from "Places" or "A Mark, A Mission." I recommend this album to everyone but I also recommend any and all of their other work.

Like most other DC fans I have been waiting for this CD to come out since I heard about it's being recorded. This CD was semi-disappointing at first however as I got further on in the CD I got to really enjoy it. It takes a close listener to actually enjoy it. Listen to the lyrics and take it in. Track 9, Dusk and Summer actually brought tears to my eyes, maybe it sounds corny bu it was amazing. I would recommend this to just about anyone. My only suggestion to Carraba himself would be to revert back moreso to accoustic rather than electric/band sounding stuff. His old astuff was wonderful bu his new stuff has anew flavor to it which keeps it new and keeps fans from ebcomign bored. I'm in love.

I have been a Dashboard fan for a little over two years now, and they have yet to disappoint me. While this album is different from the rest, it still captures the pure essence that is Dashboard Confessional. Chris Carraba's lyrics are as heartfelt as ever, and the music is equally raw. Listeners can relate to tracks like "Stolen" and "So Long, So Long" which remind them of first loves and the end of summer. This album is truly a story of love, life and loss.

After hearing the first single off the album "Dont wait" i was a little worried that Chris was going in a different direction. I need not have worried; this album is just as good as "A mark a mission..." It is true that "Dusk and Summer" has a very different sound than previous Dashboard albums but it only further showcases Chris' versatility as an artist.It took me a few times to really grow on me but now Im hooked. ATTENTION...If you rewind the CD from track one, two secret tracks can be found!!!Their previous single from the spiderman 2 soundtrack, "Vindicated," and a new track "Write it Out." CD players that have autoplay will automatically play these tracks.

"Dusk and Summer" is , in my opinion, a great album. This one is different than the previous and it is more consistant. Songs on "A Mark" I skip over and don't really care for. But on "Dusk and Summer," every song has at least one moment where I say "that was pretty awesome." Pick this one up, keep an open mind, and sing (yell) along.
