- Get the Deluxe (electric + acoustic) version!
This album is definitely a sign of how Dashboard has matured in both song composition and lyrical poetry. Songs like "Even Now" give original Dashboard fans the heartfelt acoustic songs that they expect while new songs like "Get Me Right" are so addictive that they are stuck in the heads of old and new fans alike. A wonderful album - and definitely worth getting the deluxe electric/acoustic version!

- Alter the Ending
I've been a fan of DC since an older cousin introduced it to me almost a decade ago, and I have truly grown up with this band. As a teenager the woeful sound of Swiss Army Romance, The Place You Have Come To Fear Most, and A Mark. A Mission. completely fit in with still immature emotions. Dusk and Summer began DC's emergence into adulthood, and The Shade saw maturation of lyrics and a cleaner sound than previous albums. Alter the Ending brings together life experience and a sense of introspection that fits fans who are now adults themselves.
I eagerly awaited Alter the Endings release date, and wasn't disappointed. The cd has a good mix of songs for both old and new fans, those of us who remember Swiss Army Romance, and those who joined with Dusk and Summer or The Shade.
Everyone Learns From Disaster and The Motions are fun, with a faster pace and playful lyrics, while Get Me Right and Water and Bridges lend a serious tone, thoughtful songs with a story to tell. Definitely a more mature look at relationships than in earlier albums. Alter the Ending I love just for Chris's vocals, the smoky quality of his voice really comes out in this one.
I Know About You actually took a few listens to grow on me, but only because the lyrics "And I know about you." remind me of song from another band and that threw me of a bit.
The one song I had issues with was Belle of the Boulevard. I just can't seem to reconcile it with the rest of the cd, and I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps because the imagery in this song is hard to connect with, and somewhat confusing.
Hell On the Throat, I adore this song. It wraps up the cd beautifully, and is so poignant. Chris has always had a style of pouring the heart out to all, and this song has a lot of soul.
The acoustic album was so worth it, but perhaps more for hard core fans and those of us who can appreciate the excellent instrumentals. All-in-all, this album is a must have for everyone. I know there will be fans who want to go back to A Mark. A Mission, but I've always felt that you have to let a band mature and grow into themselves. Life and experience change everyone, and your favorite band isn't made of robots boys and girls. Chris and the guys have had almost a decade to grow up, and I think Alter the Ending is only the beginning of great things to come. Here's to another decade guys, I really hope your still recording when I hit my 30's!

- Alter The Ending
Dashboard Confesssional's Alter the Ending may just be their best album to date. Chris's voice still has that same sound that got me hooked the first time I heard "Stolen." The songwriting has only approved. My favorites are Even Now, Until Morning, Water and Bridges and Everybody Learns from Disaster. I'm a sucker for a good acoustic, especially from Dashboard Confessional, so I absolutely LOVE the acoustic bonus tracks. Good all around album! Go pick it up!

- AMAZING!!!
This cd is a definite buy for every DC fan. The two-disc set includes something for everyone! On one cd you get a full-band version of every song...perfect for the person who enjoys the more recent DC releases (also the perfect soundtrack to your workout)!! The second cd in the set is all acoustic arrangements of the songs- like "old-school" DC...AMAZING!!! Chris has yet to disappoint with his heartfelt, poetic melodies. From that very first note on, you will find yourself humming and singing along to each and every song. This is the incredible power DC has on their fans...one big campfire sing-a-long...A must buy, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!
