- love story gone emo
A great 4 song love story... Seeing someone and wanting to get to know them, The anticipation of asking someone out and the excitement of getting to know someone. It captures the way you feel and worry about what to wear on the first date, and then the way it all comes into one perfect play. Just perfect.
I love the older stuff, it's the best because it's more of a time when their music could be played more how they wanted. ANd now that they've become more popular, their music sounds canned (a mark, a mission, a brand, a scar). If you like the older stuff like Swiss army romance, you'll love these acoustic songs.

- Great concept, good execution
Chris Carraba is truly one of the great song writers of the indie scene today. He writes inspired, wonderfully emotional lyrics. His use of clever metaphors and vivid imagery make for truely unique songs. This example demonstrates his amazing lyrical talent. On the first listen, I didn't know how the songs were related. However on subsequent listens, I discovered the whole cd told the story his struggle to get a girl to go out with him. Every song adds elements to the story and you can't help but feel good when she calls him for a date. These songs convey a sense of optimism that was lacking on "The Places You've Come to Fear the Most". He writes with a maturity that belies his age, however writes about topics any teen can relate to. The excellent instrumentation seen in previous releases continues in this one. However I don't like the vocals as much. The EP lacks the backup vocals that added depth to the full length releases. Also, he tires to keep his voice unnaturaly low at some points. He doesn't use the full range of his vocal capabilities and lacks emotion. My only other problem is with Vagrant records, way to charge 10 bucks for a 4 song EP, also don't order from Vagrant. I ordered a mix cd five weeks ago and still havent got it. But this is another solid effort by Carraba.

- My First Dashboard CD, But Not My Last!
Wow! My friends told me Dashboard was good, so I went and picked up this CD. It is expenisve for just 4 songs, but its worth not having to keep skipping tracks you don't like.
For You To Notice-5/5, excellent. a little slow at the beginning but it doesn't bother me!
So Impossible-5/5,a masterpiece. This song blows me away! Its more upbeat than the 1st track, which makes it all the better.
Remember to Breathe-4/5-good, but not great. His voice isn't as good in this song, but the rythym and lyrics are good.
Hands Down-5/5, one of my all-time favorite songs. Simply amazing. Don't take my word for it, listen yourself!
Overall it is an amazing CD! this won't be the last I get from DC. I would give it 5 stars if it was cheaper.

- A happy journey
I like this CD because the 4 songs together tell a wonderful story. From begining to end, this CD is lyrically great and it simply makes me happy. This CD varies a bit from other dashboard CD's because its lyrics are more upbeat, so to speak. It's still real emotional though, espically when he sings things like, "do you, do you like dreaming of things so impossible?" The thing I like the most though, is the CD's story of boy meets girl and how the relationship develops from there. It really paints a good picture of how we're all excited and nervous and anxious right when we meet someone we really dig.
Acoustically wonderful and lyrically driven, I would highly recomend this CD.
