Disco de (hed) Planet Earth: “New World Orphans”

I really am surprised that the review section doesn't have at least one hater yet. Anyways, I have to say this is the best effort from this band sense the self titled. I've been listening from the age of 13 (21 now). I've always loved this band, but they have flat out done them self's for this one. From there independent career on this is with out the best album yet. Only in Amerika was okay, I loved Back to base x, Insomnia was good but not as good as it could be. This album is everything Insomnia could have been and more. Renagade is the best single they have had sense they broke loose of the noose, stay ready is my new favorite song, and the whole message of the cd is much more inspiring then Insomnia. I love this album, and its great to hear them have a CD that is actually CD quality. I highly suggest this CD to fans, people who lost touch, and people who have never heard them before.

(HED) P.E. does it again. This album is definitely one of their better ones however they're all great!

Awesome cd from beginning to end. Loads of songs, like 26 songs on album. REnegade, Bloodfire, Middle Class Blues, Planet X being some of the standouts. By far their best overall cd since Broke, I've been waiting a long time for an album from HED this good.

I will admit it. I had turned my back on HED PE. I had been a HUGE fan since HED and Slipknot rocked my world on the 2nd stage of Ozzfest so many years ago, but I had given up. Only In Amerika was such a disaster that I couldn't do it anymore. Don't ask me why, but something drew me back to them. I hadn't heard any of their songs. I heard no hype. I now consider it sheer luck that I picked this CD up without knowing anything about it.

What had killed my interest had been the devolving of the band into more of a rap outfit (Only in Amerika). The rock aspects had been greatly diminished. The punk was gone or just plain awful. The reggae was nonexistant. Everything I liked about them was slipping away ... that is until New World Orphans.

New World Orphans is a total throwback to the musical stylings of their self titled album. You have the hard driving metal, the flow of Jared, the political bite of the reggae ... and then you throw in some CLASSIC punk-style riffs. Not today's pop-punk GARBAGE that has been infecting our airwaves since 2000 ... but punk you would have heard in the 80's and early 90's. It's hard, fast, and in your face. I virtually love everything about this album style-wise.

The only issues I have are the typical HED PE cheese songs. I'm not interested in hearing about Jared's sex life. I don't care about his *member*. I don't want to hear about date rape (Stepping Stone), murder/necrophilia (Everything All the Time), etc. I think they were hanging out with ICP for too long on tour. Maybe I'm missing some hidden meaning. I don't know. Good news is that this is only 2 songs. Easily skipped.

The BEST songs are those where Jared's expressing his leadership against the government machine. As much as Renegade has been more of a success commercially, Ordo Ab Chao is BY FAR the best song on the album. Hands down. End of Story. Ordo Ab Chao. Reggae. Metal. Politics. Listen to it. Live or Die Free takes classic punk to heart and totally pumps you up ... getting you ready for the rest of the album and more then willing to join the fight. Tow the Line has more of a west coast beach vibe with an outspoken view on the wars of the right wing in this country. Self Aware is a slower, change of pace ... but is as biting as it is beautiful.

This has been my "instant classic". It's one where I didn't take it out of my CD player for over a month. I LOVE this CD. It's one of my ALL-TIME favorites. I just hope HED STAYS on this path and doesn't devolve back into being so rap-centric. I'm looking at YOU Only in Amerika!
