The addition of new vocalist Cathy Richardson has really added some new vitality to this illustrious and legendary band. In fact it's quite a new line-up with Jeff Pevar being their first permanent bassplayer since Jack Cassidy left the band at the start of the millenium, (Pevar best known for his collaboration with David Crosby in CPR). And a former crew member Donny Baldwin returning to the drum chair he held in the band's commercial heydays in the 70s and 80s.
All this makes up for an engaging and inspuired performance.
We also get two tracks with the legendary Tom Constanten - one of the few surviving Grateful Dead keyboardists - fine piano, not so fine vocals.
A historic performance from the highly prolific "Heroes Of Woodstock" tour and as such a valuable addition to the Starship files. But in a time when only idiots and idealists actually BUY music, and where the net is overflooded with great liverecordings for free (quite a few of them even legal, lol) I would expect a bit more from an official live album than 45 min. of music. And a not outstanding soundquality. In fact this sounds like an unedited pretty rough sbd-mix where David Freiberg's vocals as well as Pevar's bass are rather low in the mix.
But anyway good news from space captain Paul Kantner and his brilliant musical friends.
