- Best of the Manfred Mann Albumns

Mafred Mann was known for taking a bad Bruce Springstein song , improving it musically and ... tada .. making it a hit. With this albumn he did more than that. He made a whole albumn of songs worth listening to. When it came out, I had originally bought it for.."For You" (The B. Springstein song remake/improvement. Listen to the original and wonder why they bothered). I was excited to find I liked every song on here for one reason or another. A very unique and creative work that's fun to listen to. It doesn't date itself as some music does. Sounds as fresh today as it did when it was released.

- Decent Early 80's Progressive Power Rock

Studio savvy album that boasts a memorable Bruce Springsteen cover, "For You" (more popularly known as "I Came For You"). Technically perfect and sonically flawless, although it lacks commercial appeal, and thus is mainly for Mann Fanns.

- Far Better than the one hit known for

Many people think of "Blinded By The Light" When you mention Manfred Mann.....Boy are they missing the best CD recorded by these folks. From begining to end its unique style of music appeals to us tired of carbor copy music. Country has become assembly line music & the rock of the 90's just leaves you flat. The first time I heard this album was on album .....that tells you how lasting of an impression this work has left on me. I lost it in a move & searched for 15 years to find it. Fully expecting it to have been a teen age thing. I put it in & was hooked again. My wife had never heard of it & loves it . I rank it right upthere with "Bat OUt Of Hell" Both original & Timeless.

- Terrific

This is one of the best albums made in the rock era. The highlight for me has always been the stunning rendition of "For You", a song that made no impression on me at all as done by Bruce Springsteen. An essential recording for anyone who appreciates thought along with their rock and roll. I have listened to it hundreds of times, and have never tired of it.

- Like having a time machine in your hand!

Had the pleasure of working in radio when this first came out (1980-81). Our Music Director let us play several cuts off the LP (No such thing as CD's then!), and became somewhat hooked on 'For You', 'Lies(through the 80's)', 'On the Run' and a few more.

Those songs have haunted me for years (in a good way), yet couldn't find it for years...FINALLY, it's available again and i'm adding it to my 'wish list' for this Christmas.
