Pantera Album: “Official Live: 101 Proof”

Nothing beats a PanterA show. They are the greatest live band ever. I have seen a few and everytime I go to another concert (no matter who it is), I always say, "PanterA has hardly any lights, but their sounds make you wanna scream!" I like this album a lot, and love the live version of A NEW LEVEL (Phil really hits the chorus hard, makes you realize just how angry in life you can become). WHERE I COME FROM is definately bluesey, and it's an ok song, but for my money, I like I CAN'T HIDE. It starts out with a clean bass sound (unlike FAR BEYOND DRIVEN where Rex was as heavy and distorted as Dime's guitars) which one girl I knew mistook for a punk song (1st song I played to her), then unleashes into a fast, hard and HEAVY AS S---! sound! The end is my favorite, since PanterA always seem to have great finales (the greatest being the middle and end skull-crunchers on THIS LOVE, the greatest anti-love song ever!); Phil screams as the band hit short beats/notes that feel like your getting hit in the head by a jackhammer. Truly a work of metal art!

I also like the slowed-down live ending to SUICIDE NOTE PART 2. And the screams Phil adds to the ending crunch of THIS LOVE let me blow off a lot of steam in never-ending bad relationships.

YOU MAKE ME ABSOLUTLY SICK. i DIDN'T MIND ANY ONE NOT LIKEING PANTERA BECAUSE ENYONE CAN LIKE WHAT THEY WANT... BUT TO SAY CRAP LIKE THAT ABOUT A GREAT GUITARIST LIKE DIMEBAG. I HAVE READ SOME OF YOUR REVIEWS AND YOU SOUND LIKE A CHILD.a COCKY LITTLE GUITARIST WHO THINKS THE WORLD SHOULD BOW TO HIM. you don't like the pantera t-shirt THAT IS TOO MACHO WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT ON IT? PUPPIES AND FLOWERS and YOU DON'T LIKE THE cd's and the pantera gutar book? then don't buy them.NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM. IF vinnie paul or phil ansalmo heard you say crap like that, give them 5 minutes alone with you and they will show you respect ( hense the song ).Don't mouth off like a child. If Eddie van halen ( or any good guitarist ) heard you say that stuff about dimebag he would spit in your face. Dime bag is ( or was ) a better guitar than you will ever be. NOT TO MENTION A NICER PERSON. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD WANT TO GET A ANTI-PANTERA CAMPAIGN GOING? YOU SOUND LIKE AN ANGRY PRIEST. I HATE YELLOWCARD BUT I WOULD NEVER DEVOTE MY TIME TO DESTROY THEM ( TIME WILL DO THAT ANYWAY ) . IF YOU ARE A REAL MAN THAN GO SAY THAT STUFF IN YOUR REVIEW TO A FORMER PANTERA MEMBER OR ANY RESPECTABLE MUSICIAN.IF YOU SAID THAT TO ME I WOULD SPIT IN YOUR FACE.

The Anti-Pantera crowd seems to be posting just to post, screaming for some desperate attention that they dont get in their lonely teenage lives...What's even better is hearing then yak on and on about how Dime couldnt play his guitar....these are the people who have never picked up a guitar, or if they did, it was briefly...Anyway, this is my favorite Pantera album. It captures what the show must have been like and the pure energy of a Pantera concert, it also captures one of the best metal guitar players in action. If you like good heavy metal, pick this album up

A good live-album by the texas cowboys. Some of the classics are there but also some newer songs who are fillers on the albums which they come from. The sound isn't bad but there are definitely live recordings with a much better sound(like the Live Era disc-set from Guns N Roses). Despite these negative aspects the album demonstrates what a brutal live force Pantera were and this alone is worth the price of the cd. Metalheads who just started listening to Phil,Dime and co. should check out other efforts of the band before, because this record is mostly for the die hard-Pantera fans.

I was at the concert that Walk was recorded at. I was in the pit the whole time watching one friend get a broken nose and the other suffer a black eye, nasty mess that was. But anyway, Pantera puts on one hell of a high energy, in your face up side the head intense metal performance. You know the songs so you know how goood they are, so I don't need to comment on that. What needs to be reviewed is the just amazing stage show that Pantera puts on. Vinnie just looks inhuman behing the drums, it's unbelieveable how insanely talented he is. Darrel has got the most amazing fingers, they must be jello to move so fast and so fluidly and seemingly without doing any work at all. Rex's bass just shakes you from the inside out and you start moving, stomping your feet to it and you don't even know you're doing it, you just can't help it. Phil, well, Phil is one of the best front men ever, he just works the crowd into a frenzy and feeds off of that frenzy working himself into one of his own. The last two tracks are really good stuido recordings, Where You Come From I just so deep and ... rocking, I Can't Hide is fast and hard. Crank them up. The Domination/Hollow medley is one of the best songs on here, but it's probably a toss up between Cemetery Gates, the best I've ever heard it performed and I'm Broken for the best song on here. All in all, this gets my highest recommendation.
