The {^Stereo} single is the middle ground of the three released from {^Brighten the Corners} material. Although not as strong as {^Shady Lane/Wanna Mess You Around}, it is clearly better than the {^Shady Lane/Slowly Typed} single. The two bonus tracks on the single are {&"Westie Can Drum"} and "Winner of The"; the "Stereo" included here is the album version. "Winner of The" proves to be the stronger effort of the two, and is a classic {$Spiral Stairs} tune. This song is much in the same vein as "Date With Ikea" from {^Brighten the Corners} in its poppy, melodic structure. In fact "Winner of The" could have fit in quite nicely on {^Brighten}, and at times I wonder why it was not included instead of "Date With Ikea." {&"Westie Can Drum"} is a bare-bones arrangement, but becomes a bit repetitious. If you like the fun, driving-with-the-windows-down-on-a-summer-day {$Spiral Stairs} songs, then this disc is worth buying. ~ Marc Gilman, All Music Guide
