- Questionable Edits, Appalling Sound
Muted bass, analog hiss, and the questionable editing of "Liar" and "Old Fashioned Love Song" prove that somebody dropped the ball somewhere. While this collection does include all the Top 40 "hits", avoid this disc like the plague. Turn instead to the "Celebrate" compilation (MCA), with its remastered originals.

- Not a bad collection, but now there are much better ones
I bought this as a tape about ten years ago. Somehow, I lost the tape and bought a copy on CD. But now there's an even better Three Dog Night compilation CD. I'm not sure of the name, but if you type the group's name into Amazon's "popular music" engine, it's usually the first one to appear. Also, it sells at a low price and has more than 20 of their greatest hits. My major complaint with this Greatest Hits album is that the sound is not remastered or anything. It sounds like it's playing on a really good LP record. I recommend--both to the casual Three Dog Night listener as well as the hard core fan--to try one of the later compilation CDs. They're sure to have more songs and better sound.
Overall, I suppose this is not a bad compilation, but why bother when you can get so much more?

- What's here is good
This collection is getting a bad rap. It is a good, but incomplete collection. It is a re-issue of the vinyl lp from 1976, so it only includes 14 songs. 13 of which were big hits, the only miss being "I Be So Happy" from the Hard Labor album. But I would recommend you pass on this and buy "Complete Hit Singles" which includes all 21 top 40 hits on a single CD.
- Reissue of 1974 lp. This was popular lp in the 70's and it is nice to have it on cd.
I think the title is confusing so many years later. This is a best of three dog night that was put together in 1974. In 74 this was a great
collection to own. Looking back on it now 40 years later it incomplete. But you have to keep in mind the band had not even recorded many of it's classic songs yet when this hit the market. I was looking for a replacement for that LP I had in the 70's and this is it. Just like the record and very happy to have it on vinyl. The MCA version best one. All they MCA cds are light on liner notes and package but they have the best sound. So if you are looking to replace that lp I would recommend this CD. If you are just looking for complete best of I would recommend the 20th century millennium collection. If you looking for a more substantial collection I would highly recommend Celebrate the Three Dog Night Story 1965-1975.
- Joy to the World, Three Dog Night
Three Dog Night is one of the Best Rock Groups out of the 60's and 70's bar none.
The songs, "Never Been to Spain", "One", "Joy To The World" are timeless classics.
"Black and White" is a classic copied by other artist and song writers. But my favoirte is "Shambala". Anyone loving the music of this time period MUST have this classic. Plus the phrase of 2000 and whatever is "dog" which I HATE!!! But lets get it straight; Three DOG Night is where is all began. Peace.
