<p>Of all the hair-metal bands making the rounds in that genre's late-'80s heyday, Poison had a particular penchant for the art of the power ballad. For the uninformed, this is the type of song that often resulted in many Bics being flicked at arena shows and was oftentimes the quickest route to pop success for bands that might otherwise be too heavy for regular airplay. BEST OF BALLADS & BLUES cherry-picks the best bits from these former denizens of the Sunset Strip.
<p>Even non-fans will instantly recognize the Meat Loaf-like title "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," and the inevitable late-'80s prom/wedding song "Something to Believe In" (in both regular and previously unreleased acoustic versions). Diehards will swoon over "Until You Suffer Some (Fire and Ice)" and "Theatre of the Soul," from the line-up featuring temporary C.C. Deville replacement Richie Kotzen. Also included is the harmonica-and-piano-adorned "Be the One," featuring temporary guitarist Blues Saraceno, from the long-shelved CRACK A SMILE album later released as CRACK A SMILE?AND MORE! six years after it was originally recorded.

- Great For Anyone With A Broken Heart!
I love to listen to depressing music! This sums up the best of Poison's power ballads! & i mist say nobody does a power ballad like Poison!After me & my girfriend split i listened to this cd all the time! - Life Loves a Therapy????
Other than the grossly mislabeled song on the CD (listen to the CD via Windows Media Player and the title of Life Loves a Tragedy is titled "Life Loves a Therapy") this album is beyond fantastic. You CANNOT go wrong with this CD. Poison is so much more than a rock-n-roll band, and it shows with this CD. Poison can any type of song (blues, ballad, whatever) and do it justice. - The Best!
I did not even know this album had been released until i saw it in my local music store.Being a huge fan of all hair metal,I immediatly bought it.When I took it home and began to listen, I couldn't believe what I was hearing.It is heavy, yet bluesy, sad, but sometimes happy.The best songs are 'Be The One','Good Love', and 'Poor Boy Blues'.If you like hard rock and hair metal, buy this album. - Love it!
Great ballads that never received radio play....great album mixed with some blues tunes. I never tire of this one! It also has a nice flow to it as if it was a non-greatest hits cd. - I LOVE POISON
THIS IS A GREAT CD. I LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER. THE SONGS ARE MEANINGFUL AND THE BEAT IS GREAT. THIS IS A MUST FOR POISON FANS.
