- Try it. You'll probably like it.
I bought this album because of the Amazon reviews. I'd been afraid of it before then, and thought it would be pretty awful. It isn't sophisticated, but the music doesn't suffer as a result of this. What's possibly disappointing about the album is that Jarvis's lyrics seem a bit too sincere, but they're not nearly as clever as, say, the touching, beautifully observed portraits of women you get on His n Hers. Still they're better than most peoples lyrics - the line: 'I've never seen you look so...ugly' is a nice glint of the greatness that was to come. It's a fun album, you want to dance to it, and the sound is crisp and easy to listen to (rather than easy listening) and there's a lot of originality. If you like Pulp, you'll probably be pleased you took a chance.

- Brillant!
When I first bought this album home from the shops and put it on I wasn't all that impressed but after a few more listens it occurs to you that this is one beatiful album. It is nothing like any other Pulp albums which gives it that raw edge. It ranges from a dark yet still quite bouncy "Love is Blind" to a dancing disco number called "Death 2".The first half of this record is quite freaky and sad. Songs like "Do you want me anymore" which is about a girlfriend who has left him to a three minute story about a person who drowned in a river called "Down by the river". The second half of the record is pure disco music, this sounds amazing due to Jarvis's snarling vocal style. I highly recommend this CD to all Pulp fan's. To fan's who only have "This is Hardcore" beware to hear some different Pulp and all the very best in trying to try to get it out of your CD player....You carn't!

- Completely underrated
This is a fantastic album that I missed when I first got introduced to Pulp. Most of the album is very "up" and it finds its way into my music rotation on a very regular basis. My favourite tracks are probably "Love is Blind" and "Separations," although the whole album is fantastic. The track "Separations," in particular is really interesting - the first two minutes of the song are completely different in tone from the rest of the song. (This seems to be the case with many Pulp songs, but especially in this case.)
Anyway, I rarely see this album mentioned, and it really deserves a listen.

- excellent cd definately the best pulp ever
Pulp has always had great music and separations is no exception. Jarvis Cocker's sad lyrics of "don't you want me anymore" and "she's dead " and the upbeat sounding tunes but semi-sad lyrics of "love is blind " and "death II" combined with Russel Senior's melodic violins and Candida Doyal's keyboards (not to mention the guitar bass and drumbs) you get a true pulp sound. Also the last track "this house is condemed" sounds nothing like pulp yet has the true unique pulp sound. it earns the title of best pulp album and the album to buy

- My favorite
This is the Pulp CD I like the most. It's really brilliant. Not as studied as "This is Harcore", not as refined as "Different class" but catchy, powerful, exciting, inspired. BUY this CD!! You won't get enough of it.
