- A good collection of songs, is that simple!

U218 is a good collection of songs. It was designed to fit into almost everyone's taste. There's not a `wrong' song on it. Why?...well, just because every song on this compilation is a hit. Long time fans will condemn it to perdition, they will tell you that THE BEST OF 1980-1990 and 1990-2000 are better collections...and it's true! but that's not a reason to say that this album is a bad thing.

It opens with "I Will Follow" and then the chain of hits is unleashed: "Beautiful Day", "With Or Without You"...etc. The album offers two new songs. Both of them could've been better, I think neither the collaboration with Green Day or "Window In The Skies" are going to become U2's classics.

With this recent U218 celebration, there's a lot of stuff being offered. A single CD, a CD plus a DVD, a DVD...but the best of them all is the book "U2 BY U2"...that was designed for the long time fans!.

But U218 The Singles is a good choice por those who want to have all the best known songs in one record. The booklet has the lyrics and the packaging is a nice one. So if you're looking for that good gift for these Christmas, this one is going to make it for you.

- Great Music with Vinyl Problems

This is a review of the vinyl media, not the music. Too bad there's no way to separate them. To put my review in context I'm an old man (two months older than Bono) who grew up using turntables so I'm not a rookie. I've received two vinyl copies with the same manufacturing problem on side 3. The first tracks (especially "Where the Streets Have No Name") are marred by a rough static that makes them un-listenable. Even if I was a turntable rookie I could still compare side 3 to side 1 which sounds absolutely beautiful with a very quiet background. I've exchanged this once but I'm going to keep this copy for the other 3 sides and visual media. This is the first vinyl I've bought in a very long time and it's a disappointment. The music itself is great of course.

- THE BEST U2 COMPILATION ON VINYL FORMAT

Since Best of 1980-1990 and Best of 1990-2000 were not made available on vinyl format, this is the ultimate U2 fix to own and play on your turntable. ABSOLUTELY NO THROW-AWAYS or FILLERS. Every single cut rocks and in the process inevitably reminds you that although Coldplay is gradually being positioned as the next U2, U2 continues to be the greatest rock band in the world today.

This album was delivered in very good condition and arrived in the mail ahead of Amazon's target delivery date.

Amazon rocks!

- Oasis Officially Turns Into U2

Oasis has never been shy about flaunting their influences, and it shows again on their latest offering. Instead of simply sounding like U2, the band has decided to actually BE U2, and the result is their best work ever. "With or Without You," "Where the Streets Have No Name," and "Window in the Skies" take on added poignancy when actually sung by Bono, and backed by Edge, Larry Mullen Jr, and Adam Clayton.

I'm already excited about Oasis's upcoming "Zooropa" release, slated for mid-2007.
